The Power of a Dream Team

At a recent workshop, the opening question was simple: What do you enjoy most about your job?

As a teacher, I listened as others shared about their students—the joy of making a difference, of shaping young minds. Their answers were inspiring, but my “why” felt a little different.

For me, the greatest joy in my job isn’t just about the students—and don’t get me wrong, I love my students and making a difference in their lives—but I couldn’t do it without my people. The coworkers God has placed in the classroom with me. The team that turns a challenging day into one filled with laughter, support, and purpose. We call ourselves the “dream team,” not because we’re perfect, but because we flow.

Every day, we show up, knowing we can’t do this alone. We rely on one another, leaning into our strengths, filling in the gaps for each other, and working toward a shared goal: to help every student grow—not just academically, but in the social and emotional skills that will carry them through life.

It reminds me of 1 Corinthians 12:12:

“Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ.”

In our classroom, no one role is more important than another. The paraprofessional who provides one-on-one support, the speech-language pathologist who gives a child their voice, the teachers who guide and instruct—we are all essential. When we work in synch, we make a difference far greater than we ever could alone.

The Challenge

Who are your people? The ones God has placed in your life to work alongside you, encourage you, and help you grow? Take a moment today to acknowledge them. Send a text, write a note, or simply say thank you. Let them know that their presence matters—because when we work together, we reflect something far greater than ourselves.

And if you’re struggling to find that sense of teamwork? Be the one who starts it. Lift others up, recognize their gifts, and create a culture of encouragement. Because the best work is never done alone—it’s done together.
