When God Repeats Himself
Have you ever had a repeat message from God? One of those moments where He keeps bringing something to your attention in different ways? That happened to me recently, and it felt like He was putting up neon signs, making sure I didn’t miss it. I've had this experience before with God's Reoccurring Messages and it's always exciting.
My girls and I have been following a Lent Bible Reading Plan, and the other day, I couldn’t help but notice a theme on repeat. Our reading was Matthew 6:25-34, and then Matthew 6 also showed up in my morning devotions. Later, I realized how closely it tied to Colossians 3:1-17, a passage I pray over my people. It felt like God was gently nudging me to slow down and really take it in.
A Common Thread: Where Is My Focus?
Both passages remind me of something I need to hear over and over again: my heart and mind should be set on God, not the worries of this world. If there were a degree in worrying, I would have a PhD!

Heavenly vs. Earthly Priorities – Matthew 6 encourages storing up treasures in heaven, those things that last, not just the here and now. Colossians 3 challenges us to set our minds on things above.
Trusting God Over Worrying – Jesus points to the birds and flowers—if God cares for them, won’t He care for us even more? Colossians 3 says to trade our worry for His peace, letting Christ rule in our hearts.
Living for God – Matthew 6 warns against seeking applause for the good we do, while Colossians 3 paints a picture of what it looks like to live for God—clothing ourselves in kindness, humility, and love.
Forgiveness and Love – Jesus makes it clear—our hearts should be quick to forgive. Colossians 3 echoes this, reminding us to extend the same grace we’ve been given. And at the center of it all? Love. The kind that holds everything together.
An Invitation to Listen
When a message keeps repeating, I know I need to pay attention. Maybe God is trying to show me something I would skip over.
If you’ve been noticing a repeated message in your life, maybe it’s an invitation to sit with it for a while. What might God be showing you?
